Joseph was the kindest, funniest, and cheekiest little monkey you could ever meet, but at just 3 years old he was diagnosed with stage 4 high-risk Neuroblastoma. He received the diagnosis in April 2021 and, tragically, passed away in December that same year. Alongside managing Joseph’s diagnosis and NHS treatment, we were faced with the enormous challenge of raising £300,000 for additional treatment in New York, treatment that wasn’t available in this country. This trial was intended to help prevent the Neuroblastoma cells from returning and help to keep him in remission. Sadly, the cancer returned before Joseph could begin the treatment, and due to complications from chemotherapy, we were forced to face the devastating and unimaginable loss of our little boy.
Joseph's cancer journey was incredibly tough, with 8 cycles of rapid COJEC induction chemotherapy, countless surgeries, including major surgery to remove the tumours, 2 stem cell transplants, high dose chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Throughout it all, Joseph kept smiling and showed incredible bravery, but no child should ever have to endure what he did. Which is why we are committed to fighting and raising funds for kinder, safer treatments for our children, so that one day, no child will have to go through what Joseph went through.
